The new type-inspired graphic brand for Castells—the umbrella organisation for all Catalan human tower associations that promotes them worldwide— gets its message across very clearly: the vertical logo, compact type and the well-placed baseline stress our view of human towers, where each letter represents a casteller and they all add up to make a human castle. Black and white were chosen because each human tower association has its own colour, and black is the only colour they have in common—the colour of their sashes. A brand for a popular cultural activity that has been on Unesco’s List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 2010.
