In 2024, Barcelona launched a long-term climate adaptation plan for public schools to reduce the impact of heat, improve classroom conditions and support better learning environments. The programme includes upgrades across 170 educational centres and will benefit more than 55,000 students citywide.

Focused on thermal comfort and improved indoor air quality, the plan is also a key step in the city’s ecological transition. It prioritises decarbonisation, energy efficiency and more resilient school buildings, connecting climate action with public education infrastructure.

A logotype built on scale and temperature control

The logotype is built around the idea of scale and progression, inspired by a staircase. Its stepped form suggests increase and decrease, referencing temperature regulation and climate balance.
Warm and cool gradients meet inside the mark, expressing the transition between heat and freshness and making climate comfort visible at a glance.

A flexible visual system

A set of simplified geometric shapes represents different schools across the city. Colour transitions within each shape echo the warm-to-cool spectrum, turning thermal comfort into a clear visual code that can be applied consistently across a multi-site programme.

Gradients are designed to work in print and motion. In animated applications, colour subtly shifts over time, extending the identity into digital formats and reinforcing the idea of adaptation.

Public communication – Pamphlet

A printed pamphlet translates the identity into a clear, accessible communication tool. It explains the goals of the climate plan in straightforward language, making technical upgrades easier to understand for students, families and school staff. Bold gradients and structured typography support a layout that balances information with visual impact. The format is practical, easy to distribute and adaptable to different schools.

Urban Communication

The campaign helps position the city’s educational infrastructure as a key player in the fight against climate change — both through technical improvements and clear, accessible communication.

Expanded Visual Language

The campaign expands across posters, social media assets, the programme website and school signage, maintaining clarity and coherence across touchpoints. As a public-sector communication system, the identity is designed to scale, keeping the message consistent while remaining easy to implement across the city.
