The Granny Lent is the graphic representation of the Lent time, which takes from Ash Wednesday until Holy Thursday, the day Christian Easter begins. Her seven legs represent the seven weeks that lasts, while the salt cod and the basket full of vegetables and herrings are a reminder of the obligation of meat, eggs and milk fast to all christians. In Spain, the tradition is to hang a Granny Lent made of paper in the kitchen, pulling out a leg every week and finally burning it on Easter Sunday.

‘Tip of the Week’ is a weekly insight to some of the things we like.
