Emilio Ruiz del Río (Madrid, 1923 — 2007) was a painter, set designer, model maker, special and visual effects expert and art director considered amongst the best of the world. His technical innovations and mastery brought him to collaborate in blockbusters like Spartacus (Kubrick, 1960), Lawrence of Arabia (Lean, 1962), Cleopatra (Mankiewicz, 1963), Conan the Barbarian (Milius, 1982) or Dune (Lynch, 1984).
