Officially a local police officer, the Barcelonian Josep Baqué (1895 – 1967) developed, throughout all his life and always in secret, an illustrated bestiary of more than 1.500 fantastic monsters. His drawings are a mixture of surrealism and art brut that weren’t valued until the early 2000s, when the Lausanne museum dedicated an exhibition and edited his work.
