Montserrat (literally saw hill) is a multi-peaked mountain range in the pre-coastal zone of Catalunya. Its characteristic morphology turned it many centuries ago into a symbolic and pilgrimage place. It has 15 ermites, a monastery of Benedictine monks that guards an image of la Moreneta (a black Virgin) and one of the most famous children’s choirs of Europe, l’Escolania de Montserrat. The mountain is also known for being a meeting point for climbers, hikers and even UFO spotters.
